1973-1975 Yard Manager
I began my journey as a yard manager. I realize as I reflect on my childhood how truly blessed I was growing up on the shores of the magnificent Chesapeake Bay. As a boy I would attempt to spend every waking moment crabbing, fishing, swimming or any activity that involved being on the waters of the bay. As i grew older I discovered the pleasure of boating and began to discover the Bay and its tributaries. My Dad also helped me discover that fuel for boats cost money and I needed to get a job. I was then thrust into the working world. My next discovery was that I could actually get paid to work on boats! It was my dream job. I quickly became the yard manager of a family operated marina because of my love of boats and the environment.
1986-1992 Service Manager
The Marine service was booming during this time. I was promoted to Service Manager of one of the largest Sea Ray Dealers on the Bay. I could never place a value on what I had learned or the relationships I developed with my clients and others in the marine industry during this time in my life.
1992-2008 General Manager
I took the position of General Manager of a mid size marina in Southern Maryland that had previously been recognized as one of the elite service facilities on the Potomac River. Unfortunately when I took over the marina it had lost it's reputation and had few customers. It took a couple of years but with hard work, diligence and rebuilding the trust of our few slip holders. I developed customer relationships based on excellent customer service and it took no time before word got around. The service department was busy all year and within three years slips were on a waiting list. We soon expanded into boat sales and became a top 10 Wellcraft Dealer in both sales and service.
